Working Women’s Centre Tasmania

True workplace safety goes beyond compliance. It’s about creating cultures where everyone can thrive.

Working Women’s Centre Tasmania is a program run by Women’s Legal Service Tasmania in partnership with Worker Assist Tasmania, offers comprehensive support and education to prevent workplace sexual harassment and gendered violence across Tasmania. The program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).

If you are experiencing workplace sexual harassment and other workplace issues including workers' right and entitlements, you're not alone. Across Tasmania, our specialist team provides: 

  • Free, confidential legal advice 

  • Legal information 

  • Tailored referrals for support

  • Legal and non-legal options

  • Advocacy, support and representation at mediation, conciliation, tribunals, and courts.

We also deliver education for businesses and workers to promote safe, respectful, and inclusive workplaces, and develop industry-specific sexual harassment prevention and gender equality strategies.

Leading Safe and Respectful Workplaces

A three-hour workshop for workplace leaders ready to go beyond compliance.

Join us for this highly interactive workshop where you’ll develop the confidence and skills to prevent workplace harassment and gendered violence before they occur.

  • This isn’t a lecture about policies. It’s hands-on skills development grounded in evidence-based prevention approaches, behavioural science, and trauma-informed practice.

    You’ll leave with practical skills in:

    • Confident intervention – using the 5 Ds framework to respond effectively to inappropriate behaviour

    • Trauma-informed response – supporting colleagues who disclose sensitive concerns with care and competence

    • Creating psychological safety – building trust where people feel genuinely safe to speak up

    • Inclusive leadership – using power-conscious communication that prevents harm

    • Systems thinking – embedding prevention in workplace policies and culture

    Plus a personalised 90-day prevention action plan to implement immediately.

  • This workshop is designed for:

    • Managers, supervisors, and team leaders

    • HR professionals and workplace safety officers

    • Anyone with responsibility for workplace culture and team wellbeing

    Maximum 20 participants per session to ensure meaningful interaction and skill practice.

  • Duration: 3 hours (including 15-minute break)

    Format: Highly interactive with scenario practice, role-play, small group activities, and peer learning. This is experiential learning – you’ll practise the skills, not just hear about them.

    Co-facilitation: Led by two experienced practitioners in gendered violence prevention, bringing deep expertise in workplace culture change, trauma-informed practice, and building safe and respectful workplaces.
